About SCOME

Medical education and clinical skills training are essential for every medical student, as they influence not only the development of future physicians but also the overall quality of healthcare.

SCOME works to create a supportive learning environment where students can actively engage in their education and gain opportunities to develop and practice the skills needed for their future careers.

Through our collective efforts, we strive to bring about lasting improvements that benefit medical students, future generations of healthcare professionals, and ultimately the patients and communities who rely on the quality of our education.

Vision

Provide medical students with tools and opportunities to enhance medical education, assisting them in developing both personally and professionally to represent excellent future doctors who can promote improved healthcare and make medical education more interesting.

Mission

SCOME is a community that helps medical students take part in improving medical education through projects, trainings, and advocacy. It gives students the chance to share ideas, learn new skills, and work with each other to make education better and represent skilled, confident future doctors who can lead change in healthcare.

Focus Areas

1. Skilled Medical Practitioner (SMP)

Focuses on empowering medical students with the essential skills required for their future medical practice. Through hands on workshops, training sessions, and simulation based learning, SMP supports the development of clinical and technical competencies such as first aid, suturing, and basic life support, as well as professional skills including communication, teamwork, leadership, and critical thinking. By bridging the gap between theory and practice, SMP helps prepare students to become competent, confident, and patient centered healthcare professionals.

2. Better Medical Education (BME)

Focuses on enhancing the quality of medical education to ensure that future physicians are well prepared to meet the evolving needs of healthcare systems and communities. It promotes student centered, competency based, and evidence informed learning while encouraging meaningful student involvement in educational processes. BME also addresses key aspects of quality assurance and accreditation, curriculum development, assessment methods, and educational standards, aiming to foster continuous improvement and excellence in medical education.
